Prof. Dr. Georgi Apostolov: Interdisciplinarity, Business Partnerships, and AI Integration in Education – Strategic Priorities for IBSB
In a recent interview with Economy.bg, Prof. Dr. Georgi Apostolov, Rector of the International Business School of Bulgaria (IBSB), shared valuable insights into the institution’s educational approaches and strategies. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary education, combining fields such as “Administration and Management,” “Economics,” and “Tourism.” This integration prepares students for the dynamic world of business by equipping them with a broad range of knowledge and skills.

Prof. Apostolov also highlighted the school’s active collaboration with the business sector, noting that every new academic program is developed with the direct involvement of industry representatives. This cooperation has led to the creation of innovative programs such as the Master’s in “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business,” “Resort and SPA Management” – developed in partnership with the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism – as well as a new Hospitality Management program, unique on the Bulgarian market, which is set to launch soon.

The Rector pointed out the essential skills young people need to thrive in a dynamic and competitive labor market: “The top 10 are always related to strong personal skills, analytical thinking, and critical thinking.”
He also discussed the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and its impact on the learning process, underlining the need to adapt academic curricula to new technological realities.
“I will connect what lies ahead with artificial intelligence, because I see how it is transforming our work—giving us the opportunity to change the way we teach, the content we deliver, to diversify our teaching styles, to create incredible case studies for our students, or even conduct experiments together with them,” said Prof. Georgi Apostolov, Rector of IBS.
