Annual Renewal
Every year, the library stock is updated with hundreds of new titles. Book donors make the biggest contribution to the renewal of the library fund.
For the Information Center
The library and information center is part of the overall structure of the International Business School and follows its development guidelines, long-term goals, tasks and priorities laid down in its strategy. As a modern scientific, informational and educational factor, it supports training, research and communication in the best possible way. The library offers services combining traditions and modern technologies, which create the appearance of a modern cultural institution for innovation and learning.
The Mission of the Library
The library aims to provide access to the best Bulgarian and world information resources, to support the preparation process for all student programs, to motivate and accelerate the pursuit of knowledge and skills, and to encourage young people to find their fulfillment. It is a factor in their upbringing and social awareness in mastering science and knowledge, to be complete, consistent and confident in themselves, to accept education as the most important investment.
The library provides research support in the direct scientific activity of the teaching staff in its achievements in the educational process. The library is involved in its constant striving to expand the boundaries of human knowledge, in its attempts to make students active participants in the educational process, to educate good people, to discover new horizons, to provoke thought and to encourage dreams.
The library has a total of around 17,000 volumes of scientific and educational literature in the field of economics, periodicals and electronic resources, acquired through purchase, subscription, donations and book exchange. Information about the available materials is visible from the catalog, which is used on site in the library. The BIC has 40 reading places, 5 of which are computerized.
The Library and Information Center serves the teaching staff, students and employees of the International Business School. All external users only use the reading room. The complete automation of library and information activities is in the process of being implemented. The BIC is a member of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association and the Bulgarian Information Consortium.

Copying pages and chapters from library materials
Borrowing books for home in the Library is done in the “Loan Office”. Students, doctoral students, teachers and employees can borrow library documents in accordance with the borrowing rules described in the Regulations of the Library and Information Center of the International Business School.
For the registration of readers and issuance of a reader’s card, the following are required:
- ID;
- student card.
Library materials can be returned on site or by courier to:
International Business School /IBS/ Botevgrad 2140, Gurko St. 14; Distance Learning Center, Sofia 1407, 7 Vincent van Gogh St.
The conditions for restoring lost or destroyed library materials are regulated in the Regulations of the Library and Information Center of the International Business School.
The library accepts an exact replacement for lost material, which must have the same ISBN as the lost material. If it is impossible to find one, a book with a similar theme and content is purchased.
The library offers a service that requires compliance with copyright laws and license agreements governing the ability to copy materials.
A copy machine is only available from the library in DLC, Sofia.
The library of IBS provides licensed online access to several reference and scientometric databases: the electronic database Science Direct, the reference database Scopus and the analytical platform SciVal, owned by the publishing house Elsevier, as well as Web of Science and the related analytical platform InCites, owned by the Clarivate company, which provide both bibliographic and abstract information, as well as full-text articles published in a large number of foreign scientific journals and collections. The databases can be used free of charge from all computers in the library.

Access to the information in the platforms is based on the principle of IP registration in the Internet network of IBS, as the user must necessarily be located on the territory of the business school’s network. Activation is possible only and only after registration on the relevant site with an e-mail ending with the domain of the International business school @ibsedu.bg. After such registration, the databases can be remotely accessed.
The library offers access to e-books of IBS lecturers.
